Search warrant reimbursement?

If police come to your house and serve a warrant on the wrong address (with either a typo on the warrant itself or saw the wrong numbers on your address or something) and they mess up your things (I know police searches and seizures are not very gentle) and they don't find anything illegal (unlikely but still possible), what happens next? Does the government reimburse you for your broken things? What happens if family or pets are killed (like I saw on a SWAT video of the family's pets getting shot and killed, one was a pitbull (understandable) but the other corgi (not so understandable))?
